Kiln-fired Glass .
. .
Kiln-fired glass can be made into plates, bowls, jewelry,
garden stakes, etc. There are certain rules you must follow
when firing glass to avoid breakage during and after the firing process.
These include but aren't limited to the expansion rates of a particular
glass, how quickly to fire and how quickly to cool the glass.
The kiln-firing process can take anywhere from 3 hours to days depending
on the size of the glass. Many finished pieces have undergone
2 or more firings before completion. The first firing fuses
the pieces of glass together while the second firing produces the
finished shapre of the piece. Dichroic glass is a particular
love of mine due to the brilliance of the piece when complete.
